Chicago – November 10, 2024
In the 2024 presidential election, Donald Trump has won Arizona, gaining important support in a state that chose Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
The Associated Press announced on Saturday evening that Trump received Arizona’s 11 electoral votes, bringing his total to 312. His competitor, Vice President Kamala Harris, has 226 electoral votes.
Trump’s victory in Arizona marks the end of the competition for key states in this election. Besides Arizona, he also won in North Carolina, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. In the 2020 election, President Biden won Arizona by a very small margin, less than 0.5%, with a close result in Maricopa County as well.
Before 2020, Republicans had consistently won Arizona since 1996. One of the biggest issues for voters in Arizona this year was immigration, as the state is next to Mexico. This win is significant for Trump as he secures more support across the country.
