Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has recently sparked controversy with his remarks about Muslims and their religious education. In a video he shared, Adityanath criticized the practice of Muslims learning their religion and referred to those who become religious leaders, like a mufti, with disrespectful terms such as “Mulla Kathmulla.”

His comments have raised concerns, especially because India is home to millions of Muslims, making Islam the second-largest religion in the country.

Many people believe that these remarks are unfair and hurtful to Muslims, as they are simply learning about their faith. Critics have pointed out that while Adityanath and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) form political alliances with Muslim countries, they still use negative language when referring to Muslims at home.

Pallavi Patel, a political leader, has openly criticized Yogi Adityanath’s statements. She emphasized that Urdu, which has strong cultural ties to India, should be respected. Patel stated that disrespecting the Urdu language is disrespecting India’s history and culture.

She believes that these remarks only add to the growing tensions between different communities in the country.
