Chicago – August 15, 2025

The Indian Consulate General in Chicago celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day on Friday, August 15, 2025. The flag hoisting ceremony took place at 10:00 AM at Daley Plaza, located at 50 W Washington St, Chicago, IL 60602.

The event drew members of the Indian community and local officials together in a show of pride and patriotism. CEO Chicago Patriot News, Engr Mujeeb Osman, was also invited to the event.

This event is part of the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) Chicago’s grand Independence Day celebrations, which also include a Tiranga Car Rally, a patriotic gala, and the Annual India Independence Day Parade on Devon Avenue on subsequent dates in August 2025.

The ceremony began with the raising of the Indian national flag. The Consul General gave an inspiring speech, highlighting India’s journey as the world’s largest democracy. He spoke about the values of unity and resilience, and the strong partnership between India and the United States.

Cultural performances added color and energy to the celebration. Attendees enjoyed classical dances and patriotic songs that showcased India’s rich heritage and diversity. The ceremony ended with the singing of both the Indian and U.S. national anthems as the crowd waved flags and connected with one another in a spirit of friendship and national pride.
