Chicago – June 11, 2025

Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has apologized for some harsh comments he made about former President Donald Trump after hearing from several administration officials, including Vice President JD Vance.

Musk had criticized Trump’s tax and spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination” and too costly. The feud between the two men escalated, with Musk even suggesting the possibility of starting a new political party and calling for Trump’s impeachment.

Musk said on Wednesday that he regretted his comments, admitting that some of his posts had “gone too far.” He did not specify which posts he was referring to, but he deleted some of his previous remarks, including the one about impeachment. However, Musk still stands by his criticism of Trump’s tax plan.

This open conflict had raised concerns for Tesla investors, as Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Starlink, rely on their relationships with the U.S. government.

One source mentioned that Musk was serious about creating a new political party, which could pose a challenge for Trump’s Republican Party in the 2026 elections. Musk had already donated $300 million to the Republicans in 2024, helping them win the White House and Congress.
