Chicago – June 11, 2025

Brian Wilson, the cofounder of The Beach Boys and the creative mastermind behind the band’s iconic surf sound, orchestral arrangements, and flawless harmonies, has passed away at the age of 82, his family confirmed on Wednesday.

In a statement shared on Instagram and Wilson’s official website, his family expressed their deep sorrow: “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world.”

Wilson’s life was as defined by his battles with substance abuse and mental health challenges as it was by his extraordinary talent and the timeless songs that continue to resonate with audiences, decades after their release.
