Hyderabad Prepares for Grand Bibi Ka Alam Procession
Hyderabad is gearing up for the historic Bibi Ka Alam procession on July 7, 2025, marking the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). This grand procession, one of the largest in India, attracts thousands of mourners annually. The procession begins at Bibi Ka Alawa in Dabeerpura, where the sacred Alam is carried on an elephant named Lakshmi, accompanied by mourners reciting Nohas and Marsiyas.
Security and Arrangements
The Hyderabad Police have deployed 3,000 personnel to ensure peace and security during the procession. Authorities have made arrangements for water, medical aid, and traffic diversions. Police Commissioner CV Anand has personally reviewed the arrangements, ensuring a smooth and peaceful procession. Traffic diversions will be considered between 12:00 PM and 10:00 PM, affecting areas across the Old City and Secunderabad.
Significance and Celebration
Bibi Ka Alam, believed to contain a piece of wood from Hazrat Imam Hussain’s shrine, symbolizes sacrifice and reflects Hyderabad’s rich Shia heritage. The procession is a significant event, showcasing the city’s cultural and religious traditions. Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir has visited Bibi Ka Alawa and announced that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has approved the procurement of two permanent elephants for state religious and cultural events, including Muharram processions.
