President Donald Trump has extended a trade truce with China for another 90 days, delaying a potential trade war between the world’s two largest economies. This decision was announced on Trump’s Truth Social platform, where he stated that he signed an executive order for the extension, with all other elements of the agreement remaining the same.

The extension is a welcome relief for US companies doing business with China, as it provides more time for negotiations and potentially paves the way for a summit between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping later this year. Sean Stein, president of the US-China Business Council, emphasized the importance of this extension, stating that it is “critical” for giving the two governments time to negotiate a trade agreement that would improve market access in China and provide certainty for companies to make long-term plans.

The trade truce has been extended until November 10, with the current tariff rates remaining at 30% for US tariffs on Chinese goods and 10% for China’s tariffs on US products. This extension indicates a willingness from both sides to continue negotiations and work towards a more permanent trade agreement.
