In a heartwarming act of kindness, a retiring doctor in Arkansas has forgiven over $650,000 in medical debt for nearly 200 of his cancer patients. Dr. Omar Atiq, who ran the Arkansas Cancer Clinic for over 30 years, decided to wipe out the debt instead of sending final bills to his patients.
Dr. Atiq and his wife wanted to help their patients, who were already struggling with life-threatening illnesses, by lifting the financial burden off their shoulders. In December 2020, the clinic sent out letters to the patients, informing them that their balances had been completely forgiven. Dr. Atiq said he wanted to thank his patients for their loyalty and make a positive difference in their lives.
Dr. Atiq’s generous gesture has brought immense relief and gratitude to his patients. By forgiving their debt, he has given them peace of mind and reminded everyone that true healing goes beyond just physical treatment. His act of kindness has inspired many and shown the power of human generosity.
