President Donald Trump has signalled that he would accept a 20‑year suspension of Iran’s nuclear program, provided Tehran offers what he described as a “real” guarantee, according to multiple global news outlets.
Speaking aboard Air Force One after leaving Beijing, Trump told journalists that “20 years is enough,” stressing that the halt to enrichment must be credible and enforceable.
Trump’s remarks mark a notable shift from earlier demands that Iran end all nuclear activities permanently. He has rejected Iran’s latest peace blueprint, criticising it for not requiring a full stop to all nuclear work, while appearing to accept a two‑decade freeze as a possible compromise.
Western media report that mediators are discussing a 14‑point framework that could lift some sanctions in exchange for strict limits on Iran’s nuclear capabilities, though Tehran has so far declined to confirm any such deal.
