Chicago – October 16, 2025

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has achieved a remarkable milestone by emerging as the highest-ranked Central University in India and the third-highest-ranked Indian institution overall in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026.

JMI secured a place in the 401–500 global band, marking a significant improvement in its international standing. The ranking reflects the university’s strong performance in teaching, research quality, citations, and international outlook.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar praised the achievement, attributing it to the dedicated efforts of the faculty, researchers, and students. The recognition reinforces JMI’s growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence and innovation on the global stage.
