President Donald Trump has publicly broken with one of his most prominent MAGA allies, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, triggering an unusually bitter intra-Republican feud. Greene now says Trump’s escalating attacks have helped fuel threats against her following their political split.
Rift between Trump and Greene
Trump recently withdrew his support for Greene, mocking her as “wacky” and suggesting she has “lost her way” after she criticized his focus on foreign policy and handling of domestic priorities. The rupture follows Greene’s growing dissent over Trump’s emphasis on overseas peace deals, ongoing inflation pressures, and his administration’s approach to releasing files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Greene cites threats, doubles down
Greene, a Georgia Republican once seen as a staunch Trump loyalist, has responded by blaming the president’s rhetoric for a wave of abuse and threats directed at her since the fallout. She argues that harsh denunciations from Trump and his allies have historically coincided with credible threats, and she has vowed to continue challenging him on transparency, government spending and what she calls an “America Last” tilt in his foreign policy.
