Chicago – November 21, 2025

Union Minister for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the 105th Foundation Day celebrations of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in New Delhi on October 29, 2025. The event also marked the opening of a six-day ‘Talimi Mela’ (Education Fair), celebrating the university’s rich academic and cultural legacy.

As the chief guest, Rijiju highlighted Jamia’s historical contribution to India’s educational and social progress. Praising the institution’s century-old heritage, he described Jamia not merely as a university, but as an idea of India that unites people of all faiths and communities.

The minister commended the university’s commitment to inclusive education and its evolving role in nurturing young minds. “Jamia is once again proving that knowledge is the true power,” he remarked while addressing faculty and students.

The campus was abuzz with cultural performances, exhibitions, and academic activities reflecting Jamia’s enduring vision and its efforts to foster academic excellence and national integration.
