Chicago – December 31, 2025

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Maulana Syed Arshad Madani has sharply criticized Indian media for its biased coverage, devoting hours to the recent mob lynching of Hindu man Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh while ignoring rising mob violence within India. Speaking on December 30, 2025, Madani condemned the Bangladesh incident as “the height of brutality and savagery,” violating Islamic teachings and warranting severe punishment, but questioned the “double standards” in domestic reporting.

He highlighted TV channels’ extensive debates on Bangladesh unrest, including protests and minority attacks, contrasted with silence on India’s 2025 mob lynchings, projected at 15 incidents—up 15% from 2024—with Uttar Pradesh leading at three cases often linked to cow vigilantism. Madani also decried attacks on Christians during Christmas, such as church vandalism, and government inaction, calling it an assault on constitutional freedoms.

“This hypocrisy undermines India’s founding values envisioned by Gandhi and Nehru,” Madani stated, urging accountability to curb religious extremism eroding national unity.
