The Delhi High Court has rejected Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s plea to suspend his 10-year jail term in the custodial death case of the Unnao rape survivor’s father and denied him bail.
This decision ensures Sengar remains in custody in that case even as appeals continue.
The court’s latest order upholds earlier rulings that Sengar must continue serving his sentences linked to the Unnao case.
In April 2018, the father of the Unnao rape survivor was arrested under the Arms Act, allegedly at the behest of Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s associates after he was beaten by people linked to the accused.
He was taken into judicial custody and died on April 9, 2018, due to injuries suffered while in custody. A post-mortem reportedly found internal bleeding and severe injuries consistent with custodial brutality.
The victim has been seeking justice for her father’s brutal killing while in custody but her voice has been silenced for over 7 years.
