Kurt Olsen, a lawyer tied to Donald Trump’s “Stop the Steal” campaign after the 2020 election loss, pressured a U.S. intelligence contractor to uncover voter fraud evidence from that race, sources familiar with the matter said.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) hired Mojave Research Inc. to probe vulnerabilities in Puerto Rico’s 2024 voting machines following public security concerns. During the investigation in May 2025, Olsen—a former Trump campaign attorney and current special government employee since October—urged Mojave to expand its scope to 2020 election impacts, according to two anonymous sources.
Olsen’s involvement, described as unusual for a non-intelligence official, highlights efforts by some Trump officials to enlist U.S. intelligence in validating long-debunked 2020 fraud claims rejected by courts. ODNI stressed agencies cannot engage in domestic politics, and Puerto Rico’s elections chief pledged cooperation with authorities.
This comes amid FBI probes in Georgia tied to Olsen’s referrals and Trump’s recent calls to control voting processes.
