Federal agents searched the Washington, D.C., home of former U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell and seized electronic devices as part of an investigation linked to sexual-assault and misconduct allegations against him, according to people familiar with the matter and reports by major U.S. news outlets.
Agents reportedly stopped Swalwell at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday and took possession of at least an iPhone and laptop under a search warrant. The following day, investigators searched his residence, according to The Washington Post and CBS News sources. Public court records confirm the seizure of electronic devices but do not disclose the full scope or purpose of the investigation.
Swalwell, a California Democrat who resigned from Congress in April, has faced accusations from multiple women, including claims of sexual assault, coercion and sending unsolicited explicit images. He has denied the allegations, with his attorney describing them as “false” and “fabricated.”
Swalwell has not been charged with a crime. Investigations involving the allegations are also reportedly being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
