Senator Bernie Sanders is openly criticizing Elon Musk over the H-1B visa program, which he claims is used by companies to replace high-paying American jobs with lower-paid workers from overseas.

Sanders, a longtime critic of the program, expressed his concerns on the social media platform X, stating that the program primarily benefits billionaires by allowing them to hire cheaper labor.

The H-1B visa program is designed to enable U.S. companies to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations and is widely utilized by the technology sector.

However, it has been a point of contention, drawing criticism for allegedly facilitating the replacement of American workers with less expensive foreign employees.

This issue has recently sparked debate among Republicans, highlighted by differing views from Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, both associated with Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency.

Musk defended the program, citing its role in bringing essential talent to the U.S., which helped build companies like SpaceX and Tesla. In contrast, the debate continues over whether the program is being exploited to undercut American labor costs.

Sanders has backed his position with data, noting significant layoffs by major corporations that use the H-1B program while they continue to hire foreign workers. He advocates for reforms including higher fees for guest worker visas and improved wages and conditions to better support American workers.
