Chicago – February 11, 2025

President Donald Trump met with Jordan’s King Abdullah II at the White House on Tuesday to discuss important issues, including the future of Gaza. The meeting comes after Trump announced a plan to “take over” Gaza in order to bring stability to the region. This proposal was made during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on February 4.

Trump’s plan to have the U.S. take control of Gaza has sparked strong reactions from Arab countries, including Jordan. Egypt also called for an emergency Arab Summit to discuss the situation, set for February 27.

During the meeting at the White House, Trump assured that the U.S. was not planning to buy Gaza but instead aimed to bring peace to the area. When asked for his opinion on the Gaza plan, King Abdullah declined to comment directly, saying he would wait for Egypt to lead the discussions with the U.S. on the next steps.

Trump, in a recent interview with Fox News, repeated his intention to take control of Gaza, expressing confidence that King Abdullah would eventually agree to allow Palestinians to settle there.
