US President Donald Trump believes Russia wants to end its war with Ukraine, but thinks they might be slowing down the process. In an interview with Newsmax, Trump said, “I think Russia wants to see an end to it, but it could be they’re dragging their feet.”

This comes after Russia disputed agreements made with the US. Russia said they will only follow a US-brokered deal to stop using force in the Black Sea if some sanctions are lifted.

The White House said Ukraine and Russia agreed to ensure safe navigation and prevent the use of force in the Black Sea. However, Russia launched over 100 drones towards Ukraine overnight, killing three civilians, including a three-year-old girl and her mother.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attacks show Russia is not interested in a ceasefire. “Launching such large-scale attacks after ceasefire negotiations is a clear signal that Moscow is not going to pursue real peace,” Zelensky said.

The situation remains uncertain, with no clear end to the war in sight. Trump’s comments and Russia’s actions suggest that finding a peaceful solution will be challenging.
