In a recent interview with Fareed Zakaria at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Iran’s Vice President for Strategic Affairs, Javad Zarif, addressed concerns about Iran’s weakening position in the region. Zakaria pointed out Iran’s strained relationships with allies like Syria and Lebanon, as well as the decline of groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, which Iran has supported in the past.

Zarif countered that resistance movements like Hamas and Hezbollah remain strong despite facing difficulties. He emphasized that these groups continue to fight against occupation and repression, and their existence is not dependent on Iran alone. Zarif also cited historical examples where resistance movements grew stronger even when they seemed defeated.

The interview highlights growing concerns about Iran’s position in the region, exacerbated by economic struggles, protests, and tensions with other countries. While Zarif attempted to showcase Iran’s resilience, many experts believe the country is in a weaker position than before.
