A Russian airstrike on Kyiv Sunday left one person dead, while the death toll from a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih on Friday continued to climb.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the victim was found near the impact site in the city’s Darnytskyi district. The strike also injured three others and caused fires in several nonresidential areas, damaging vehicles and buildings.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded on social media, stating that the ongoing Russian assaults indicate a lack of sufficient global pressure on Moscow. He revealed that, over the past week, Russia has launched more than 1,460 guided bombs, nearly 670 attack drones, and over 30 missiles at Ukraine. He called these attacks a direct response by President Vladimir Putin to international diplomatic efforts.
“This is why pressure must not be eased,” Zelenskyy said. “All efforts should focus on ensuring security and bringing peace closer.”
Meanwhile, the number of deaths from Friday’s missile strike on Kryvyi Rih rose to 19, including several children, with 75 others injured. Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city’s military administration, announced a three-day mourning period starting April 7, stating, “Our hearts are filled with pain… but we will endure and prevail. The enemy will be held accountable for every Ukrainian life and every mother’s tear.”
Local officials reported the strike damaged 44 apartment buildings and 23 private homes. Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed responsibility, saying it targeted a restaurant where Ukrainian commanders and Western military advisers were meeting, asserting that the attack killed 85 personnel and foreign officers and destroyed 20 vehicles. These claims have not been independently verified, and Ukraine’s General Staff dismissed them as false.
Elsewhere, Russian forces launched 23 missiles and 109 drones, including strike and decoy types, overnight across Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian air force. Thirteen missiles and 40 drones were intercepted, while 53 decoy drones were disrupted before reaching their targets.
