The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Rasonque (daraxonrasib), a new once-daily oral treatment for adults with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma who have received at least one previous systemic treatment or are not candidates for multi-drug chemotherapy.
When will it be available?
Rasonque is already available by prescription in the United States, according to its developer, Revolution Medicines. The company says patients can access the drug through its patient-support program.
How much does it cost?
The reported wholesale acquisition cost is $39,800 for a 30-day supply. The actual amount a patient pays can be substantially lower depending on insurance coverage, eligibility for financial assistance and other factors.
The approval is significant because a Phase 3 trial found median overall survival of 13.2 months with Rasonque versus 6.7 months with chemotherapy in the studied population. It is not considered a cure, but represents a major new treatment option for advanced pancreatic cancer.
