Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has put a hold on the release of terrorists scheduled to be freed under a ceasefire deal with Hamas. This decision comes after the release of Israeli and Thai hostages on Thursday, who were subjected to “shocking scenes” of abuse and terror as they were transferred to the Red Cross ¹.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog condemned the treatment of the hostages, describing the scenes as “horrifying.” Netanyahu responded by ordering a delay in the release of the terrorists, demanding assurances that future hostage releases would be carried out safely.

The Prime Minister’s office later stated that the mediators had agreed to ensure the safe exit of the remaining hostages. Israel has insisted that lessons be learned from the incident and that strict care be taken in future hostage releases.
