A devastating plane crash occurred in Ahmedabad, India, on Thursday, June 12, 2025, involving an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner bound for London’s Gatwick Airport. The flight, AI171, took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:47 pm but crashed minutes later into a medical college hostel in a residential area, killing over 200 people.

  • Passengers and Crew: 242 people were on board, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian.
  • Survivors: Miraculously, one person survived the crash and is receiving treatment.
  • Casualties: 204 bodies have been recovered, including passengers and people on the ground. Five students died, and several others were injured after the plane crashed into the hostel.
