French Lawmakers Stage Unique Protest in Support of Palestine

In a powerful show of solidarity, French lawmakers held a unique demonstration inside the National Assembly, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and stronger protection for Palestinian civilians. Led by left-wing MPs from the France Unbowed party, the protest featured legislators wearing traditional Palestinian scarves and holding signs that read “Stop the Genocide in Gaza” and “France Must Act Now.”

The demonstration took place during a heated debate on France’s stance regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict. LFI leader Mathilde Panot condemned the ongoing violence, urging the French government to end its complicity with the Israeli occupation. However, right-wing MPs criticized the protest as inappropriate for the parliamentary setting. The action comes amid global outcry over Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, which has killed over 38,000 Palestinians.

France recently supported a UN resolution for a ceasefire but has faced criticism for not taking stronger diplomatic measures. The symbolic protest has sparked debates across France, with pro-Palestine activists praising the MPs while others accuse them of politicizing the Parliament. The demonstration highlights growing pressure on Western governments to reassess their positions on the conflict.
