House Republicans Rush to Vote on Trump’s Tax Bill
House Republicans are working quickly to vote on President Donald Trump’s tax and spending cuts package on Wednesday. The bill passed the Senate with a narrow 51-50 vote, thanks to Vice President JD Vance’s tiebreaking vote. Republican leaders want to meet Trump’s July 4 deadline and are urging members to support the bill.

Challenges Ahead
The bill includes $4.5 trillion in tax cuts over 10 years and would make permanent individual and business tax breaks passed during Trump’s first term. However, some House Republicans are unhappy with the bill, particularly the cuts to Medicaid and the impact on federal deficits. With a slim majority of 220-212, House Republicans can’t afford many defections. Speaker Mike Johnson needs to convince hesitant members to vote for the bill without changes.

What’s at Stake
The bill’s fate is uncertain, with some Republicans likely to oppose it due to last-minute changes made to win Senate approval. Trump is pushing Republicans to “do the right thing” and support the bill. If passed, the bill would deliver on Trump’s campaign promises, but critics argue it benefits the wealthy at the expense of social programs.
