Chicago – June 01, 2026

India has strengthened its position in the global meat trade, emerging as the world’s second-largest exporter of red meat, driven by rising international demand and competitive pricing in key markets.

According to recent industry and trade reports, India’s exports are projected to remain strong through 2026, with overseas shipments nearing 1.7 million tonnes. Major destinations include Egypt, Vietnam, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Iraq.

The export sector has benefited from robust demand across the Middle East, South Asia, and parts of Africa, while favorable exchange rates have helped Indian products remain competitive in global markets.

Trade analysts note that the industry contributes billions of dollars annually to India’s agricultural and processed food export earnings, supporting processing facilities, logistics networks, and employment across several states.

Government and industry data indicate that export volumes have reached their highest levels in several years, reinforcing India’s role as a major supplier in the international red meat market.
