Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is about to face a big test. The Senate Finance Committee will vote on whether he should become the next secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). This vote is happening on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

The committee has 27 members, with 14 Republicans and 13 Democrats. Kennedy needs most of them to vote for him to move forward. So far, two Republicans, Sens. Todd Young and Thom Tillis, are supporting him. But he still needs the vote of Sen. Bill Cassidy, a doctor who is worried about Kennedy’s views on vaccines.

If Kennedy doesn’t get enough votes, his nomination might not make it to the Senate floor. This would be a first for President Trump’s nominees this term. Many of his other picks have been confirmed and are already working.
