Czech rising star Linda Nosková captured her first Grand Slam title after defeating compatriot Karolína Muchová 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in a dramatic all-Czech Wimbledon women’s singles final on Saturday. The 21-year-old showcased composure and resilience to secure the prestigious Venus Rosewater Dish after an intense battle on Centre Court.
Nosková appeared on course for a straight-sets victory before Muchová staged a remarkable comeback, saving five championship points to force a deciding set. After regrouping during a bathroom break, Nosková returned with renewed focus, saving early break points in the third set before converting her sixth championship point to seal the biggest victory of her career.
The triumph makes Nosková the youngest Wimbledon women’s champion in 15 years and the third Czech woman to win the title in the past four editions, underlining the country’s continued dominance in women’s tennis. She dedicated the emotional victory to her late mother, while Muchová praised her compatriot’s outstanding performance.
