Chicago – July 21, 2026

Spain’s FIFA World Cup-winning squad received a hero’s welcome after returning home following their 1-0 victory over Argentina in the 2026 final. Tens of thousands of supporters greeted the players at Madrid airport before the team met King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia at the Royal Palace, where they were congratulated on securing Spain’s second men’s World Cup title.

The royal family praised the squad for inspiring the nation with its discipline, teamwork and attacking style throughout the tournament. The celebrations continued with an open-top bus parade through the streets of Madrid, drawing an estimated crowd of nearly two million fans waving Spanish flags and chanting players’ names.

Captain Álvaro Morata lifted the World Cup trophy before jubilant supporters, while coach Luis de la Fuente thanked fans for their unwavering support. The victory has sparked nationwide celebrations, with football authorities calling it one of the greatest achievements in Spanish sporting history and a defining moment for the national team.
