Prime Minister Narendra Modi is facing criticism for his silence on US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks about a $21 million fund for voter turnout in India. Trump questioned the allocation of funds, saying India has a growing economy and high taxation rates, and doesn’t need such financial support.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed concern over Trump’s comments, describing the matter as “deeply troubling.” The MEA confirmed that relevant departments and agencies are examining the potential implications.

However, opposition parties are slamming PM Modi for his silence on the issue. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera criticized Modi’s lack of response to Trump’s announcement of reciprocal tariffs and his statement about ending BRICS.

Khera questioned Modi’s decision to attend Trump’s swearing-in ceremony despite not being invited. He also criticized Modi’s silence on Trump’s threats, saying, “PM Modi came from the US after hearing Trump’s threat… US President Donald Trump said that he would end Brics, but he (PM Modi) was still smiling.”

The controversy has sparked a debate about PM Modi’s handling of international relations and his response to criticism from world leaders.
