Chicago – February 10, 2026

A National CME on “Recent Advances in Strabismus” was held on February 2 at JNMCH Auditorium, AMU, bringing together leading ophthalmology experts to discuss modern diagnostic and surgical approaches, especially for childhood strabismus.

The Chief Guest and Key Speaker, Prof. Pradeep Sharma, highlighted recent surgical advances and stressed that untreated squint in children can cause lasting visual and psychosocial harm. He emphasized early intervention to preserve binocular vision and welcomed a recent High Court ruling recognizing strabismus surgery as a functional, not cosmetic, procedure.

Other experts addressed the rising prevalence of childhood myopia, challenges in strabismus re-surgery, and the emerging role of artificial intelligence in management. AMU leadership underscored the psychosocial impact of strabismus and the importance of awareness and academic initiatives.

The CME saw wide participation from across the country, with strong institutional support from JNMCH and active involvement of the Uttar Pradesh State Ophthalmic Society, reinforcing its significance as a national academic event.
