President Donald Trump has announced a plan for the United States to take control of the Gaza Strip. Speaking at a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said the US would “level the site” and rebuild it.
Trump’s plan includes removing dangerous bombs and weapons, creating jobs and housing for the people in the area, and bringing stability to the Middle East. He suggested that the US could be in a “long-term ownership position” of the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu was the first world leader to meet with Trump at the White House since his second administration began. Trump’s proposal is a significant development in US foreign policy, and its implications are still being considered.
