House and Senate Republicans are working on a big plan to cut spending and help President Trump’s ideas become laws. The House was supposed to start the process this week, but some members wanted to make sure the spending cuts were big enough.
The Senate is moving forward with its own plan and will vote on it soon. The plan includes cutting spending by at least $2 trillion to $2.5 trillion over 10 years. Republicans want to use their majority in the House and Senate to pass laws that help President Trump’s ideas, such as extending tax cuts and increasing security at the US-Mexico border.
House Speaker Mike Johnson is hopeful that the House will start working on its plan soon. The Republicans are trying to work together to get their plans passed, but they still have some things to figure out.
