Senate Republicans have been working hard to get President Trump’s nominees confirmed. According to Sen. John Thune, the Senate has already approved 16 of Trump’s nominees, including Brooke Rollins as secretary of agriculture. This is a faster pace than during Trump’s first term, when only 11 nominees were confirmed by this point.

Some of the recent confirmations include controversial nominees like Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as secretary of health and human services. Both were confirmed with near party-line votes, with the GOP controlling the Senate 53-47.

Thune, who has been leading the Senate Republicans for six weeks, says his team is united and working together to get Trump’s nominees confirmed. He meets regularly with the president to discuss the process. The Senate will continue to vote on more nominees in the coming weeks.
