Chicago – May 12, 2026

According to a report, the United Arab Emirates has allegedly been carrying out secret military strikes against Iran during the recent regional conflict. The report claims that one of the attacks targeted an oil refinery on Iran’s Lavan Island in the Persian Gulf in early April 2026. The UAE has not publicly confirmed any involvement, and Reuters stated it could not independently verify the claims.

The alleged attacks mark a major shift in the UAE’s regional role. Traditionally viewed as cautious in military conflicts, the country is now reportedly taking a more aggressive stance to protect its economic and strategic interests. Sources cited in the report say the strikes came after repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks on Gulf states, including the UAE.

Iran reportedly responded with missile and drone barrages aimed at the UAE and nearby Gulf countries. Rising tensions have increased fears of a wider Middle East conflict, especially around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route. Analysts believe the developments could affect oil markets, regional security, and diplomatic relations across the Gulf. Neither Tehran nor Abu Dhabi has officially released detailed statements on the alleged covert operations.
