Three US Troops Killed in Iran Conflict; Trump Warns of More Casualties
WASHINGTON — Three American service members were killed and five others seriously wounded in Iranian counterattacks during the ongoing US-Israel military operation against Iran, marking the first US fatalities since strikes began on Saturday.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the deaths Sunday, noting the troops were ground forces in Kuwait with others suffering minor injuries. The casualties stem from Operation Epic Fury, which has targeted over 1,000 Iranian sites, including ballistic missile facilities and naval assets, using B-2 bombers and other strikes.
In a Truth Social video address, President Donald Trump mourned the “true American patriots” and vowed to avenge them, accusing Iran of war against civilization. “Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends, that’s the way it is,” Trump stated, urging Iranian forces to surrender or face “certain death.”
The conflict has escalated regionally, with Israel striking Tehran and Iran threatening further retaliation, including closing the Strait of Hormuz. Trump indicated operations are “ahead of schedule” and could last weeks.
