Chicago – May 01, 2026

Britney Spears has been charged in California with a misdemeanor DUI after authorities said she was driving under the combined influence of alcohol and at least one drug.

Prosecutors in Ventura County filed the charge following her March arrest, when California Highway Patrol officers stopped her black BMW after reports of erratic and speeding driving near her home.

The complaint does not identify the specific substance or substances involved, and Spears’ representatives did not immediately comment. She was arrested after field sobriety tests, released on bail the next day, and later entered substance abuse treatment. Her arraignment is scheduled for May 4, according to reporting cited by multiple outlets.
