What the film shows? Why it matters?

British-Pakistani Moroccan model Mariah Idrissi is fronting a short film that urges Muslim women to report racist and anti-Muslim abuse, even when incidents seem minor. The film supports a new national helpline launched by Muslim Women’s Network UK.

What the film shows?

Idrissi, who grew up in Wembley and made history as the first woman to wear a headscarf in an H&M commercial, says her modeling career exposed her to ignorance and marginalization. In the film, she experiences verbal abuse at a bus stop and is encouraged not to dismiss it.

Why it matters?

The message is that repeated “small” incidents can still have a damaging effect, and victims should feel confident reporting them. Idrissi hopes the film will help people recognize the impact of hate and think twice before acting
