Chicago – December 23, 2025

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar faces growing controversy after allegedly pulling the niqab of a Muslim girl, prompting multiple FIRs filed across different states. The incident has triggered widespread outrage and political backlash, with several activists demanding immediate legal action.

Among those who have lodged complaints is Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter, Iltija Mufti, who warned that if strict action is not taken, protests would be held outside police stations. Social worker Murtaza Alam filed a written complaint at Ranchi’s Itki police station in Jharkhand.

Similarly, Hyderabad-based political activist Khalida Parveen registered a formal complaint at the Langar House Police Station, while social activist Lubina also lodged a case in Hyderabad.

The escalating legal and political turmoil has raised questions over Nitish Kumar’s leadership and could threaten his position if investigations proceed unfavorably. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
