Chicago – April 24, 2026

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Pakistan on Friday as Washington prepared to send special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner to Islamabad on Saturday for a new round of Iran-related talks, according to Reuters and the Associated Press.

The visits come as Pakistan intensifies its mediation effort to revive direct dialogue between the United States and Iran after earlier negotiations failed to materialize this week.

Reuters reported that Araghchi’s trip is focused on bilateral consultations and regional developments, while Pakistani officials have been working behind the scenes to bring both sides back to the table.

The White House said the U.S. delegation will travel to hear Iran’s position and assess whether a deal can be advanced. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Washington hopes the talks will be productive and move the process forward.

Pakistan has emerged as a key intermediary in the latest diplomatic push, hosting a format that could shape the next phase of U.S.-Iran engagement. The renewed effort underscores Islamabad’s growing role as a facilitator in a fragile regional moment.
