Chicago – May 03, 2026

Colombian superstar Shakira performed a free concert on Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach on Saturday night, drawing an estimated 2 million people, according to the city’s mayor. The show marked one of the largest live music gatherings in Brazil this year and underscored Shakira’s enduring global appeal.

The concert was part of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” world tour, named after her 2024 album. Fans began arriving early to secure spots along the iconic beachfront, and the performance started later than planned as the crowd erupted in excitement.

Rio authorities have used major free concerts to boost tourism and local spending after Carnival and New Year’s festivities, and before June’s Saint John’s Day celebrations. Officials said the event could generate significant economic returns for the city.

Shakira’s Copacabana appearance follows similar headline-making beach shows by Madonna in 2024 and Lady Gaga last year, continuing Rio’s tradition of staging massive open-air concerts on one of the world’s most famous shores.
