Farha Nishat, cousin of jailed activist Sharjeel Imam, has triumphed by qualifying in the 32nd Bihar Judicial Service Examination. She will soon serve as a civil judge in Bihar’s courts.
=From Kako village in Jehanabad, Farha studied law at Hidayatullah National University in Raipur. She worked as a Supreme Court law clerk, then aced the exam’s prelims, mains, and interview through dedicated self-study and family backing.
Sharjeel Imam languishes in Tihar Jail since January 2020. Arrested for anti-CAA protest speeches, he faces sedition and UAPA charges in the 2020 Delhi riots case. The Supreme Court rejected his bail plea in January 2026—no trial, no conviction, just prolonged detention.
Brother Muzzammil calls it life’s irony: one sibling battles oppression behind bars, the other upholds justice on the bench. Farha’s success spotlights resilience, fueling calls for Sharjeel’s fair hearing.
