Chicago – February 28, 2026

The United States and Israel have launched coordinated strikes on Iran, triggering a rapid regional escalation as Tehran retaliated across the Middle East. Explosions were reported in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and other major cities including Isfahan, Qom, Karaj and Kermanshah, after what Israel described as a “pre-emptive” operation targeting military and regime-linked sites.

US President Donald Trump said the joint operation aimed to degrade Iran’s missile capabilities and curb its nuclear ambitions, calling the campaign “massive and ongoing.” In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced barrages of missiles and drones against Israel and US military facilities in several Gulf states, including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

The cross-border strikes have prompted widespread airspace closures and flight suspensions across the region, as global powers urge restraint to prevent a broader war. Diplomatic efforts are under way, but officials warn that the situation remains volatile and could deteriorate further in the coming hours.
