Chicago – February 18, 2025

The Acting Head of the Social Security Administration (SSA), Michelle King, resigned over the weekend after a disagreement with the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The disagreement was about accessing certain sensitive government records.

According to The Washington Post, three sources familiar with the situation said King stepped down following the conflict.

After her resignation, President Donald Trump appointed Leland Dudek to lead the SSA temporarily.

This appointment comes while Frank Bisignano, the president’s nominee to be the permanent SSA commissioner, is being reviewed by federal lawmakers.
