President Joe Biden delivered an impassioned speech at a rally in Detroit on Friday, aiming to reframe his reelection campaign amidst calls from some Democrats to reconsider his nomination. Addressing a spirited crowd at Renaissance High School, Biden redirected attention to the perceived threat posed by former President Donald Trump.
The audience, chanting supportive slogans such as “Don’t You Quit” and “We’ve Got Your Back,” enthusiastically interrupted Biden multiple times during his 35-minute address. Maintaining a solid voice and aggressive demeanor, Biden affirmed his commitment to continue running unchanged, declaring, “I am running and we’re going to win.”
Looking ahead to his potential second term, Biden outlined ambitious plans for the first 100 days, promising to solidify Roe v. Wade, pass new voting rights legislation, bolster Social Security and Medicare by increasing taxes on the wealthy, raise the federal minimum wage, enforce a ban on assault weapons, and establish a permanent child care tax credit.
