Chicago – June 02, 2025

Comedian Marc Maron has announced that he is ending his popular podcast, WTF With Marc Maron, after nearly 16 years. Maron shared the news with his listeners just before his latest episode with comedian John Mulaney. He said, “We have put up a new show every Monday and Thursday for almost 16 years and we’re tired. We’re burnt out. And we are utterly satisfied with the work we’ve done.”

Since starting in 2009, the podcast has made over 1,600 episodes and gets about 55 million listens every year. It is one of the most popular podcasts in the world. Maron has interviewed many famous people on the show, including Robin Williams, Nicole Kidman, and former President Barack Obama.

Maron began the podcast with producer Brendan McDonald after losing his late-night radio show at Air America Radio. Back then, podcasts were a new way to share stories and interviews. The opening line of his old radio show was, “Good evening geniuses, philosopher kings and queens, working class heroes, progressive utopians with no sense of humor, lurking conservatives.” Now, Maron is ready to move on after a long and successful run.
