Chicago – March 25, 2025
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump pardoned Devon Archer, a former business associate of Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden.
Trump explained that many people had asked him to issue the pardon because they believed Archer had been treated unfairly. After reviewing the case, Trump stated that Archer had been a victim of a crime and decided to grant him the pardon. “Congratulations, Devon,” Trump said before signing the official document.
Archer had been involved with Hunter Biden at Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company. In 2018, Archer was convicted for defrauding a Native American tribe in a scheme involving fake tribal bonds. He was sentenced to over a year in prison, but his conviction was overturned, then reinstated in 2020. The Supreme Court rejected his appeal, leaving his prison sentence uncertain until Trump decided to grant him the pardon.
Hunter Biden was not involved in the fraud case. Archer became part of a larger investigation into the Biden family’s foreign business dealings. Before leaving office, President Biden granted his son Hunter a pardon that protected him from similar legal issues. Over the weekend, Trump met with Archer at the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia, where Archer received encouraging words from the president.
