Chicago – June 10, 2025

Khaby Lame, a popular TikTok star known for his funny and silent comedy skits, was detained by U.S. immigration officers last week, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Lame, 25, became famous while living in Italy. He rose to fame by making fun of silly “life hacks” in short videos, which helped him become the most-followed person on TikTok with 162.2 million followers.

He was in the U.S. for the Met Gala in New York City last month. ICE officials said Lame stayed in the country longer than his visa allowed. He was detained on June 6 at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, Lame was later allowed to leave the U.S. after being held briefly.

Lame’s management team has not responded to requests for comment, and there has been no mention of the incident on his TikTok or Instagram accounts.
