Chicago – July 28, 2025

President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met on Monday to discuss helping feed people in Gaza, where many are suffering from hunger. This conversation took place amid growing concerns about the rising number of deaths from starvation in the area.

Trump’s comments came during his visit to Scotland, and they were different from the view of his ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu had said the previous day that “there is no starvation in Gaza.”

According to the United Nations’ World Food Programme, about one-third of Gaza’s population, which is around 2 million people, sometimes goes for days without food. The World Health Organization reported that in July, 63 people, including 25 children, died due to malnutrition.

Trump emphasized the seriousness of the situation, saying, “Some of those kids are — that’s real starvation stuff. I see it, and you can’t fake that. So we’re going to be even more involved.” He mentioned that the U.S. would set up “food centers” without any barriers to help those in need.

Starmer also expressed his concern, calling the situation in Gaza “absolutely intolerable.” He added that the images of starving children were “revolting” to the British public.
